Sanity, madness and the family - Julien Prévieux

Julien Prévieux

Born in 1974 in Grenoble, Julien Prévieux lives and works in Paris. ?I respectfully request that you do not hire me? ? It was thus that the artist ended one of his ?letters of non-application?. These letters have been addressed to various employers since 2000 and through parody they unmask the formatting and excesses observed in the world of employment. In a similar way, he is also interested in the latest technologies and economic globalization ? he managed to acquire the library of the embezzler Bernard Madoff. In 2014 he won the Marcel Duchamp prize with What Shall We Do Next? A film and three performances involving dancers using movements and gestures taken from science fiction films or that had been copyrighted for the launch of high-tech products. His work features in the collections of the Pompidou Centre, the Musée d?Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, the Musée d?Art Moderne in Saint-Etienne as well as various contemporary art collections across France (FNAC/FRAC).
