Did you realize no one can see inside of you - Emmanuel Lagarrigue

Emmanuel Lagarrigue

Born in 1972 in Strasbourg, Emmanuel Lagarrigue lives and works in Paris. His most recent sound and light installations were shown at the Museum of Louviers in 2013. They pursue the artist's research into perception and language - written, spoken and experienced during the exhibition in the form of noise or inaudible conversations, the senses prevailing over meaning. For many years Emmanuel Lagarrigue has been working from literary texts (Beckett, Steiner?), seeking to give them tangible form. He translated them into Morse code and sculpted this onto long wooden beams. The voice of the writer Hélène Bessette was used to reveal their shape and chopped rhythm. The works of Emmanuel Lagarrigue can be found in the collections of the Pompidou Centre, the Musée des Abattoirs de Toulouse, the FNAC and the FRACs in Languedoc-Roussillon, Haute-Normandie and Auvergne.
