Pierre La Police

Born in 1959 in Albuquerque, the graphic artist Pierre la Police lives and works in Paris. The escapades of Fongor Fonzym and the Thémistecle mutants, serialized in the French magazine ?Les Inrocks? elevated him to the status of cult author - great architect of a state of normality based on the monstrous. His stories transform our media culture into science fiction as idiotic as it is lucid. Like his characters, with their vague personalities, Pierre la Police prefers to remain anonymous. Limited edition publications (screen prints), ephemeral appearances (newspapers) and a collection of chronicles (edited for the comic publisher Cornélius) easily outweigh the album format in his work. In 2013, he decided to experiment in furoshiki, the Japanese art of wrapping objects in fabric. This led to a series of multiples in linen. He is represented by several galleries of contemporary art and has participated in group exhibitions at the Maison Rouge in Paris and the Villa Arson in Nice.
