Une Guêpe dans le K-Way, rencontre du deuxième et troisième type en Gascogne, 2010
Born in 1964 in Marseille, Thomas Lanfranchi lives and works between Paris and Lasse. The artist works mainly outdoors on performance employing wind and space. Made with cheap materials (plastic bags or spinnaker canvas), his sculptures have been seen "levitating" like kites around the Matisse Museum / Le Cateau-Cambrésis - during a residence in 2010 - or over the city of Pasadena in California. These enormous monochrome volumes with their minimalistic lines can occasionally be found confined within an exhibition space (Solo show at the Sémiose Gallery in 2008) but more often than not they can only be seen in the form of photographs, film or pieces of plastic integrated into pen-drawings (the artist regularly uses envelopes a support). His work can be seen at the Artotheques in Caen and Pessac (France).
