Guillaume Dégé was born in 1967 and lives and works in Strasbourg, where he teaches at the School of Decorative Arts. Dégé is also a collector and has acquired a huge library of images, which both feed his drawing and invite themselves onto his canvases in the form of collages. Age-old engravings are combined with coloured pencil to create surrealistic exquisite cadavers. A horse with a flower as a body, nuns fertilised by watercolour, birds decked out with noses or sexual organs? Various acts of vandalism carried out in the name of imagination in low key colours capable of transforming rocks into waves or flames. Dégé has worked with the newspaper Le Monde for a number of years and he created the visuals for the Comic Opera seasons between 2012 and 2014. He has been exhibited at the Conciergerie (Paris) and the Sérignan museum and his works can be found in the collections of the Musée de la Chasse et de la Nature and the Upper Normandy and Ile de France FRACs.
