Raphaël Julliard

Raphaël Julliard was born in 1979 in Geneva, where he still lives and works today. He uses a disparate variety of media ? video, drawing, and theatre ? in an effort to escape the domination of one media and to create an environment of creative insecurity. Whether he is ?drawing by telephone?, offering to show the making of a ham and butter sandwich (including killing the pig and milking the cow), creating a mummified cat to test Schrödinger?s theory or compiling collections of jokes, he considers art as a space of freedom. A space, where simple and poetic actions and experiments are free to take place. In 2005 he founded the itinerant gallery J. His meeting with the post-minimalist Richard Tuttle, led to an exhibition in the Centre for Contemporary Publishing in Geneva in 2014. His work has been shown at the Casino de Luxembourg, the Musée d?Art Moderne in Paris, the BF15 in Lyon, in the Kunsthalle in Bern and in St Gall as well as at the Villa du Parc in Annemasse.
